Red Wine Vs. White Wine
Most grape wines can be categorized into Red Wine or White Wine and one of the goals of this site is to explore the intrinsic magic of Red Wine, its health benefits and the wide range of Red Wines available. Wine is made of fermented grape juice and the chemical structure of grapes is such that they can be fermented without adding sugar, acids, enzymes or other nutrients. Red Wine and White Wine are both produced by fermenting crushed grapes with yeast. The yeast consumes the sugars in the grapes and converts them into alcohol. Different varieties of grapes and strains of yeasts are used depending on the type of wine being produced.
The grapes of White wine are stripped of their skin before fermentation and the wine loses many of the properties the grape skins hold. It's similar to peeling the skin off of an apple before eating it, many of the healthy properties are contained in the skin. Red Wine is fermented with the grape skins intact and this is the key difference in the health benefits and beauty of Red Wine versus White Wine.
Red Wine should be considered as one of the most healthful and fulfilling beverages, and, since it is derived from the entire grape during the fermentation process, it can even be considered a whole food by itself, but, a more magical one when paired with the right food.
